Jennifer knocked frantically on Blaine's office door. It was almost one in the afternoon and she was fretting badly, dithering as she resisted just barging into the room.

Blaine turned off his iTunes, currently playing, Hey, Soul Sister, and quickly straightened his tie; it had been hanging loose. There was a few stray curls coming out of his carefully combed hair, and his shoes had been discarded long ago, but he otherwise seemed okay. He shuffled a few papers to hide his games of hangman with himself, and called out, "Come in!"

Jenny almost burst into the door, shutting the door firmly behind her. "We've got a problem," she gushed, going over to stand in front of his desk. Her badge, that told people she was a white rank, was clipped to the tip of her tie. "I gave Ashley the details of an investigative mission and possible recruitment last night, and this morning he left the base to carry it out... It was just before half six when he left. He only had to go and talk to a couple of people and get some details. He was due for a debriefing at half eight if he had finished and was to report back by nine via radio if he wasn't..." The woman was in her early thirties and hadn't been a white very long, but she had an excellent success-fail ratio on missions she'd been part of or given out. "I've tried contacting him but we can't pick up his radio frequency and he's not answering his mobiles. The GPS systems seem to have malfunctioned, too." She hadn't directly said that Ash hadn't returned and was currently missing, for fear that she would jinx it, and she'd implied it in what she'd said as much as she could.

Blaine carefully listened to what Jennifer was saying, trying to put together what she was saying, and then frowned, spinning momentarily in the chair to check the details on his computer. He bought up the file and found that what she was saying was true.
"It may be that he was captured by an enemy," he said slowly, thinking to himself. "Have you talked to the technicians? Check speed cameras around the area, see what vehicles were around." He looked through the details a little more. "If you have to, ask students around the school." He looked up at Jennifer. "That alright? Stay third-party aware, but look a bit further than his radio or GPS. Both are known to fail," he admitted. Maybe he should get Tonii on that.

Jenny nodded, "I checked the speed cameras between the house he was going to and here, and there's nothing except the fact he turned off, apparently taking the kid to school. I checked the speed camera's down that way too, and there was still nothing." What did he think she'd been doing for the past three hours? Running around like a headless chicken? Well, she had been running around like a headless chicken, but a headless chicken that knew what it was doing... "I'll get someone into the school to talk to students, and I'll go talk to Tonii about the GPS and radio," she sighed, nodded to Blaine and ran off again, only just remembering to shut the door behind herself.

Blaine shook his head and let her go, waiting until the door was well and truly shut before turning iTunes back on - it was now Misery. Humming along, a curl popping away from his head, he checked cameras himself, giving himself something to do.

The only thing that Blaine may notice was the blue car that had pulled up outside the school as Ash drove away. With a few enhancements, he may be able to tell that with was a Valkyrie agents - Luke Parker. The car would also be seen by other cameras Ash had driven past, before both cars stopped appearing on any camera's for a while. However, when the blue car reappeared, it was being driven by someone else.

Blaine kept playing and replaying the same part of the tape over and over again, where the blue car had stopped outside the school. He supposed most people would've thought it was a parent, but they hadn't dropped a child off nor done anything to give a reason to stop right there. He took a screen capture of the guy in the corner, sending a message down to Tonii to identify the guy and found out where he lived.

Tonii looked up as a message popped up on his computer. Frowning at it, he set aside the gun he'd been working on and started on what Blaine had sent him to do. Less than five minutes later he sent a message back. It's Luke Parker. Ash's older brother. He's a known Valkyrie agent, but I can't get to his other details. Home address is unknown, he doesn't own a car, his mobiles are frequently changed and he doesn't have a job. He doesn't even pay by card for anything.

Blaine frowned slightly. He had never done the background check on Ash, because the guy before him was supposed to do that. He had never known Ash had a brother in Valkyrie. Obviously, the guy before had either known, or maybe the brother had joined up earlier but not been put on the records, or maybe he joined after Ash. It wasn't like Blaine had had a background check done on him since he had joined, so no one knew what his parents were up to now. That thought in mind, he typed a message back.
Can't you hack into Valkyrie accounts and get a home address? It was a long shot, but there had to be a way to track him down. Everyone left a trail, they just had to uncover it. Blaine was sure they were onto something with Ash's brother, whoever he was. Find out who bought the car.

I'll give it a go, I'll message you with the information when I get something, Tonii replied, forgetting his earlier project and bring up his deepweb connection. He'd tried a few times before to get into Valkyrie's database, and though he'd always succeeded, he'd never been able to actually get anything before he was chucked out completely. This time, he connected via a shorter route - it would put their databases at risk of a return-hack by someone in Valkyrie, but he messaged a couple of other technicians to keep an eye on the firewalls while he was trying to get what he needed. It was almost half past two when he sat back in his chair. He pulled up the messaging system and sent a message to Blaine. Forge Place, in B'Ham. Apartment number 227, fourth floor. That's all I could get before they managed the throw me out.

Blaine looked over the results, and then checked the time. While he could get someone else on the mission, he didn't know what to expect, and instead dug up the database of possible agents who were free. Apparently, Haylee was in the building somewhere. Without a word, he sent a quick thanks to Tonii, and then bought up her mail address instead.
Haylee, I've got a quick mission I need to go on. Just your usual checking somewhere out, but there could be a fight. Ash hasn't returned for debriefing about five hours ago, and I need a Black. You free?

Haylee had been playing about on her laptop in her room at the base, bored. She really should have been in school, but she'd just finished her exams and wasn't up to facing her teachers. When the messaging system popped up, she levitated, but sighed in relief and quickly read the message over. Resisting the urge to smile, since apparently, Ash was missing and could be in danger, she messaged Blaine back. Yeah, Give me five minutes to change and grab some stuff. I'll meet you at car lockers.
Turning her laptop off, she ran into her wardrobe (which had been designed to be a study, but she had one of those at home), she changed into some black cargo pants and light weight boots with a dark grey top and a black hoodie. She then went into the other half of the room and got some of her weapons - two black-grade standard issue guns with extra magazines, a black-grade standard issue hunting knife and wrist sheath and a red-grade standard issue penknife for her pocket, along with some smoke bombs that she liked so much. Running out of her room, she didn't bother to lock it - she never did - going to meet Blaine at the car lockers.

Blaine's preparations were a little less than Haylee's - he put up a notice saying he wasn't in, pulled off the jacket so that he could wear a dapper tie and headed off to the car lockers to meet Haylee.

Haylee jogged over to where Blaine was waiting, when she arrived at the lockers. "So where're we going?" She wondered, glancing around to see which car they were taking.

Blaine opened up one of the lockers to reveal one of the more non-descript cars, something you'd see any man driving on the street - they weren't trying to be stylish or flashy, this time - and pulled keys out of his pocket. "Birmingham," he said simply. "I don't even know if Ashlee's there, but his brother apparently lives there. We might glean some clues as to his whereabouts."

Haylee nodded and jumped in the front passenger seat, clipping her seat belt on. "Isn't Ash's brother a Valkyrie?" she frowned slightly. "I still don't know why White Rabbit called for Ash to be recruited because they two of them have been seen talking around both Wolves and Birmingham."

"How on Earth do you know this and I don't?" Blaine wondered as he started the car and manoeuvred them out of the locker, and then the car park.

Haylee blinked. "You didn't know? How come you didn't know? Stupid question, don't answer that - it's obvious The Rabbit didn't tell you," she spoke in a rush, trying to cover for herself before Blaine had chance to speak. "But I was told by one of the reds that the two of them had been spotted together on several occasions - after they'd both become agents - I followed it up, but nothing became of it. Ash was never seen anywhere else around his brother, Lewis, I think his name is, and it's been over a year since any of those reports came in, so it was all before you became the White Colour Leader," she explained. "I was still Violet when this was going on." she explained. "...And Ash's brother has been a Valkyrie agent for six years." she added angelically.

"I had barely even joined," Blaine sighed. He had only worked for Jericho for a year and a half, after all. As he carefully cut off another driver who swore at him, he added, "Oh, well. Hopefully this solves it. It's Luke, not Lewis, by the way."
